Raised in a small town in South Georgia, Stanley always dreamed of having his own CPA firm. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a Masters in Accounting, Stanley worked in the tax department of Price Waterhouse for 5 years. Thereafter, he worked in corporate taxes for 10 years at a local chemical company which was later acquired by Dow Chemical.
Stanley never forgot his dream of having his own business one day. In 2003, he realized his vision by launching Stanley Dean & Associates (later renamed SDA CPA Group).
Stanley quickly learned that running an accounting business was much more complicated than being an accountant. Not only did he have to know accounting, but he also had to know marketing, sales, legal, IT, etc. He had to wear several hats.
The first few years were challenging, and Stanley wondered if he’d made a mistake starting his own firm. But, after a few years, revenues and profits began to steadily increase. Stanley’s hard work has paid off, and SDA CPA Group has now been in business for over 13 years. During that time, SDA CPA Group has won the Bulldog 100 Award, given to the 100 fastest-growing firms owned by a UGA Alum a total of 5 times.
In September 2016, SDA CPA Group discontinued preparing individual 1040 returns for customers who weren’t business owners to focus solely on the small business market.
Awards & Associations
SDA CPA has been a recipient of the University of Georgia's "Bulldog 100: Fastest Growing Bulldog Businesses" award for five years - 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2015!
We are proud members of The Professional Association of Small Business Accountants (PASBA). Founded in 1982 with the idea that accountants could strategically run their practices in a more efficient and client-focused way, PASBA brings together some of the best and brightest minds in small business accounting, tax planning and preparation.
Through semi-annual national meetings it was discovered that small business clients, feeling lost in the blue chip client list of large accounting firms, were hungry for a financial partner that deeply understood their needs and struggles. The result was a compilation of 'best practices' that each accounting firm could use to run their own businesses as well as provide a solid package of accounting and business services to their clients
